Conserving wildlife through education is the ultimate goal of the Phoenix Herpetological Society (PHS).  We are a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization. Our program is designed for all age groups, from kids to adults.  The PHS makes a concerted effort to reach Arizona youth through both the public and private school system.  Teaching our youth the importance of conservation promotes co-existence, respect, understanding and responsible ownership in the reptile world. This includes proper interaction with our native Arizona reptiles when encountered in the wild.  This will prevent  injury to both the individual and the animal.  In addition we conduct these educational programs for libraries, homeowner associations and major corporations.

Our other major focus is the construction of the appropriate habitats used to rehabilitate rescued and confiscated reptiles.  These animals are cared for both long term and short term.  Whenever possible, PHS members will relocate native animals that have come into "conflict" with the public.  At present, PHS is caring for 200 reptiles consisting of native and non-native reptiles as well as those used for educational purposes and those that are unable to be released.  All cost incurred are absorbed either through donations or the PHS board members.
