The National Stuttering Association (NSA) is the largest self-help organization in the United States for people who stutter. The NSA was created in 1977 to bring hope, dignity, education, and empowerment to children and adults who stutter. The NSA serves as an advocate for the stuttering community and works to raise public awareness of this misunderstood disorder.
The NSA has over 3000 members nationwide and operates on a network of over 80 active chapters. The Central Arizona Chapter (or CAZ) was founded in 1996, and was a spin-off of the former Phoenix Chapter which was founded in 1986.
Currently we are collaborating and meeting at ASU, which gives us dual chapter names- NSA Central Arizona Chapter/ ASU Fluency Group. We are one in the same.
